  MUSICIANS

In 22 concerts from July 3-27, 2008 the 8th Annual European Jeunes Talents Festival presented to the public 55 of Europe’s up-and-coming classical musicians many of whom are international competition winners and graduates of Europe’s most prestigious conservatories. The concerts took place in the magnificent Soubise mansion.

The European Jeunes Talents Festival began in 2001. Its mission is to support and introduce to the world Europe’s new generation of talented classical musicians. This year, the 8th Annual Festival included musicians from the conservatories of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vienna, Salzburg, Paris, Lyon, Munich, Brussels, Basel ( Switzerland), Göteborg (Sweden), Baltimore (USA), and Shang’hai.

 The European Jeunes Talents Festival...

... consists of the following.

Open Rehearsals: 12:30-1:30 p.m., day of concert
Free and open to the public, our open rehearsals allow all to experience the musician at work. For the musically curious or hesitant, they provide the perfect opportunity to have a taste of the night’s concert, to discover the joys of classical music, and to become an active participant in the music making process.

“Le piano à Palabres” Pre-Concert Talks: 7-7:30 p.m. day of concert (free for ticket holders)
Young performer and teacher Stéphanos Thomopoulos will lead ticket holders through a discussion of the night’s program. The audience will learn about the night’s music through a lively and dynamic presentation with musical excerpts.

Concerts: 8 p.m. at the mansion Soubise
Concerts begin promptly at 8:00 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays during the festival and take place at the Soubise mansion. On Sundays, concerts at the Soubise mansion begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. On July 6, 13, and 20, 2008 free concerts will be held in Paris’ public gardens starting at 4:00 p.m. and featuring everything from traditional gypsy tunes to a jazzy saxophone quartet.

The concerts were about one hour and twenty minutes long and began on time.
